The cooperation of civil society organizations – a promising initiative for the future

Vlora Aarhus Information Centre (AIC), with support and in cooperation with the OSCE Presence in Tirana, organized two roundtables with local officials, civil society actors, active citizens, and environmentalist in the framework of cooperation between civil society for supporting local initiatives and issues that concern the community.
Cooperation between civil society organizations with one - another is a necessity for the sustainable development, but also an effective way to support citizens' initiatives aimed at improving the services offered to the community by public institutions.
The role of civil society in a democratic society is raising the public awareness ambong citizens to exercise their rights and obligations, but also make aware the Public Institutions to exercise their legal obligations and to provide better services for the community.
Sustainable development requires the commitment of all members of a democratic society to exercise their rights and obligations, and so requires that civil society play its role better for increasing the public awareness of decision-making actors.
Civil society can only bring positive changes when collaboration among its stakeholders and the community supports initiatives that are priority for citizens.
In these round tables organized in Vlora and Saranda town there were present 48 representatives from local organizations that operate mainly in southern Albania.
There were exchanged positive experiences of various organizations during organizing public awareness campaigns and civic performance shares in the past, and it was agreed to formalize cooperation in the future by signing a cooperation agreement.
To finalize and concretize cooperation was agreed that selected a specific issue and all organizations to act as a subject alone to find a solution for this issue.
