What we do

Change - Regional Development Agency is a non-government organization founded by the initiative of persons that have been working for several years with prestigous International Organizations and Institutions like NDI (National Endowement for Democracy for International Affairs), UN Women, OSCE, European Union etc.

The mission of the Organization is to encourage the economic development of the southern region of Albania by contributing to the sustainable development through encouragement of active participation of, citizens, women and girls, young people, marginalized groups, and local businesses, in decision-making processes.

The NGO aims also to increase the participation of women and youths in decision making processes, through constructive dialogue and engagement in local policy. Improving women and girls economic situation is our main priority for combating domestic violence and contribute towards gender equality.

Another objective of the NGO is to increasing the role of youths in decision making processes by active particiapation in plans programs, stategies and other mechanisms is another goal of our Organization.

Through initiatives and projects that have direct impact on improving the public services for different groups of interests, the  Organization aims to increase the cooperation between different stakeholders through constructive dialogue for solving local community issues that concern the citizens and include environmental issues in local plans programs and annual budget through a participatory and consulting process of all groups of interest.

The  Organization aims to achieve its goal and objective by:

  • Implementing projects that do have direct impact in improving the economically situation of different groups of community;

  • Implementing projects that do empower the women, youths and marginalized groups of community;

  • Promoting constructive dialogue between community and public authorities through direct talk and disscusion;

  • Promoting appropriate legislation and practices in support of access to information, public participation and access to justice;

  • Acting as a bridge between government, civil society, business and the public

  • Ensuring the participation of women, girls and youths in decision making procceses by raising  the public awareness and building capacities of stakeholders;

  • Serving the wider-community by providing services to them of relevance to the three pillars of Aahus Convention:

    • The right of information;

    • Public participation;

    • Access to Justice.

The Change - Regional Development Agency, has set its short term and long term objectives to be achieved:

Short term objectives:
1. Helping community to be informed about public institutions by formulation of requests, writing petitions, resolutions and lobbying;

2. Co-operating with NGO’s by enlarging communication, encouraging co-operation, lobbying and demanding implementation of laws;

3. Expanding and enriching information about Aarhus Convention, Environmental laws, Environmental strategies, and Environmental documents through library (physical and digital), websites register of data-bases and school education programs;

4. Improving the cooperation of Local Authorities and Public and Civil Society through organizing debates, roundtables, public meetings and hearings about environmental and good governance issues concerning the community.

Long term objectives:

1. Contributing towards economically empowerment of different groups of interests in south Albania, through projects that respect the priciples of decision making and sustainable development; 

2. Raising the public awareness about local environmental and good governance issues and strengthening the collaboration with othe local, national and international NGOs for fulfilling our mission;

3. Ensuring that general public has wide access to environmental law, regulations and planning process and procedures;

4. Providing concrete examples of best practices in the Balkans and of other similar neighboring countries about implementation of Aarhus Convention’ pillars;

5. Support formation of strong, defined gender, multicultural, multiethnic and minority groups which can be invited to urban visioning and/or planning meetings as genuine community representatives;
