Disaster Risk Reduction from natural and industrial disasters!

 Aarhus Information Centre of Vlora in cooperation with the Municipality of Vlora and the Department of Firefighters of Vlora and with the support of the OSCE Presence in Albania in the framework of the initiative for "Reducing Risks from Natural Disasters and industiral in the municipality of Vlora", organized the session of incresing the public awareness and education of young school students of  "Internacional" schools about practical measures that can and should be taken in case of fire.
Educating young people with the basic knowledge and demonstration by employees of the Department of Firefighters of Vlora of simple ways to extinguish the fire at the premises of the house or the school gets a special significance when it comes to cases of arson and safeguards should consider each person.
These information sessions and education for youth, also serve to establish a relationship based on the friendly and mutual respect between young people and the staff of the Directorate of Firefighters Vlora, and to understand how important and difficult is the mission of the Fire Brigade in dealing with fires, natural disasters and other situations.
There are some advice we would like to share with citizens about practical tips to avoid and minimize various accidents caused by the use of gas cilinder:
- Use as few small containers 3-5 kg ​​at home and closed environments. Consult their use outdoors, preferably on the patio or balcony as they are intended for outdoors, camping, hiking etc.
- Do not keep or use containers in basements or below ground level. The density of the gas is upgrading it air and therefore if there is leakage of gas, it will focus on low levels, which is stifling and poses a potential risk to the flashing of it when there is contact with a power source;
- Customers should place signaling device in environments where they are heated or cook in order to come to understand in time flow of gas from cylinders or other devices.
- Make sure there is always a window open to ambient / room where it is placed gas canisters. If the environment / room, no fans or grill, always leave them open when using gas.
- Consumers should be directed to points authorized to do testing of cylinders for technical assistance even when they use the old canisters.
