In the framework of the project: "Ecological Island - as an alternative option to raise the public awareness about differential separation and recycling", with the support and the cooperation of the Regional Environmental Center (REC Albania), within the program SENiOR-A, inaugurated  today the Ecological Island, as an innovation and a necessity for the differential separation and recycling of waste such as plastic, glass, paper and metal, waste of which exists a market in Albania for recycling.

Thanks to the financial support of REC Albania (Regional Environmental Center) within the program SENiOR-A, was enabled the successful realization of this initiative, in cooperation with the local Partners of AIC Vlora: Vlora Municipality and EMMAUS Vlore.

At today's event participated the Mayor of Vlore, Mr. Dritan Leli, representatives of public decision-making institutions, activists, representatives of civil society and citizens.

"How residents of “Isa Boletini” neighborhood hosted you? - Asked the Mayor Mr. Leli, one of the volunteers who was present at the meeting and who participated in the awareness campaign door to door with the citizens for the differential separation of waste.

"Most of them were sympathetic and support the initiative, but why to deny that there was even cases where the citizens shut the door on our faces”, answered Klejda Dalipaj, volunteer of organization.

"The initiatives of the civil society, are always welcome and will find the maximum support from Vlora Municipality, because these initiatives are a bebefit for the community and the environmental protection" - stated Mr. Leli.

We take this opportunity to thank Vlora Municipality and its Mayor Mr. Dritan Leli for its willingness to support this initiative and for giving his personal example with concrete actions to protect the environment by prohibiting the burning of waste in the waste collection areas.
