The final activity of the project: "Raising the public awareness of youths and citizens about waste separation and recycling".

In the framework of the project: “Raising the public awareness of youths and citizens about waste separation and recycling” Aarhus Information Center with the support and the collaboration of REC Albania, SENiOR-A program organized in Himarë, in 26-th February 2015 the final activity of the project. In this round table were present local actors, groups of interest, youths, representatives of civil society and the manager of SENiOR-A program Mr. Rezart Kapedani.

During this meeting it was discussed about  the progress of the project, the realization of the objectives, expectations and the challenges encountered during its implementation.

The project that was realized in collaboration with EMMAUS VLORË, enabled the realization of awareness sessions and actions for recycling and waste separation. It created a positive model for cooperation between local government, private businesses, students, youth and civil society actors.

Mr. Kapedani said that recycling not only influences in reducting the amount of wastes and as a result lowers the cost of waste management, but also creates a model of collaboration between public institutions and private business.

By the representatives of civil society was asked  a bigger collaboration between institutions of local gorvernement, those who realize the cleaning of the city and the representatives of private business. The representatives of EMMAUS-Vlora, Mr. Edison Stefa presented to the participants the functioning of this undertaking and willing to cooperate with all institutions in order to have a positive result in the awareness of citizens for the recycling process.

Aarhus Information Center Vlorw, with the support of REC SENiOR-A Program, enabled an active interaction between local government, civil society, business and youths. In this initiative were interspersed together education and awareness sessions with young people and citizens of Himara Municipality, by putting colored bins for differential separation of metals, glass and plastics in all public institutions of Himara Municipality, and also in all primary and in Himarë.

At the end of the meeting it was concreted the cooperation between public institutions with private business, sanctioned in the agreement between the Himara Municipality and Emmaus Vlora Company, for the withdrawal of recyclable waste collected in Himara Municipality, not only during the implementation of the initiative but during all the year, creating in this way, the premise for sustainability initiative after the end of the initiative.
