This project was also realized by Vlora Aarhus Information Centre, now part of our NGO Change - Regional Development Agency.

The project aimed to organize public awareness sessions and to put into practice the separation of differentiated and recycling, to create a culture of respect for the environment and saving raw materials.

The project was implmented in cooperarion with local authorities of Vlore Municipality and the local NGO that works with waste, Emmaus Vlore.

The project was really a success as there was constructed an "Ecologic Island" in the suburb of Vlore town, the first on its kind, and it was conected wonderfully the efforts of roma and egyptian community for gathering the waste like plastic, metals and glass and taken to the final destination, a factory that transforms this waste into raw material.

Appart from it, the community was informed about the importance of doing the waste selection at source and respect the environment by not throwing the litter.

It is a pleasure for us to admit that the "Ecological Island" is a sucessful initiative and it's still functioning since 2015.
